On the other, the Arbrau Defense Forces with Tekkadan's Earth Branch.
Just seeing the match up clearly means things are going to get really ugly, especially with McGillis's relations with Tekkadan after they recently formed an alliance a few episodes ago.
This week's episode gives us a clear visual of what Rustall Elion is planning - by having the two allied forces go at each other's throats, it would not only reduce their numbers, but also crush their reputations. I am surprised McGillis was unable to see this go through and build a countermeasure, and is left with no option but to go through with the conflict.
I feel really bad for Takaki. His inability to foresee what is really going on and doing something about it ultimately makes him a puppet by Elion's inside man, Galan Mossa, who unofficially leads the Tekkadan Earth Branch. Even though Takaki is narrating the episode like last week, the situation marks him and Aston for death. I'll be damned if Takaki does end up being killed off by the end of this arc and would really want Mossa and Elion's head.
My feelings over this shows the genius of the writing in this episode, how the kids of Tekkadan are unknowingly being manipulated and systemically getting crushed. It shows as well how much Takaki's group depend heavily on Orga's leadership, and we see the results without him.
On a slightly lighter side of things, we see that there is some interest with Lafter and Guts,...I mean, Akihiro. I'm surprised that after all this time being alongside Tekkadan, Lafter and Azee remain devoted to Naze. It's another one of the implied shippings of this series that I would like to blossom, but I highly doubt any of it would ever happen.
Meanwhile, I enjoy seeing Hush being Mikazuki's apprentice and how casually the latter instructs him. I still think someday Hush will turn heel, but seeing that Mikazuki doesn't even flinch at the idea (like he always does), I'm starting to think also that Hush would be Mika's successor, and perhaps potentially inherit the Barbatos, if not another Gundam Frame for him to use.
I actually chuckled at some of the animation errors found in this episode. Unlike the animation issues found in Dragon Ball Super, Iron Blooded Orphans has just as many, but you really won't notice them unless you have a really good eye (or play the scenes frame-by-frame).
The alliance will surely be tested come next episode, and it's clear everyone will end up badly scarred no matter what happens, which is will greatly affect how they will move forward.
