NHK's Top 100 Anime Song Voting Guide

To celebrate the 100th Anniversary of producing Anime in Japan, NHK has opened a poll to determine the Top 100 Anime Songs of All Time, with the results airing on their network Feb. 18th. A second poll, to determine the Top 100 Anime of All Time, is scheduled to open on Jan. 8th.

For non-Japanese, here's a guide to how to cast your votes.



To Vote For Best Anime Song:

1. Visit the website here:

2. Scroll down until you see two leopards waving flags. Select the green button on the left:

3. There are over 16,000 entries to choose from. So in the search engine below, you can change the following parameters to filter your selection. You can filter the search by in this order: Composer, Artist, and Song Name.

You may also filter it further by setting a specific year. Left box determines the decade, while the right box determines the year from 0-9.

4. After you set your parameters, hit the Green Button below:

Another method is to enter the exact Song Name, Anime, or Artist in the Search Box. However, it MUST be written in Japanese unless the title is officially in English (like Dragon Ball Z's "Cha-La Head-Cha-La", for example). The screenshot below uses the Japanese letters for Dragon Ball Z.

6.  Regardless of how you use the search box, you will be taken to this page to see the results. To vote for the song you want in the selection, click the Green Button next to your song choice.

7. The Final Step involves entering the boxes in the screenshot below. They are in order:
- Your Name
- Gender (left for male, right for female)
- Age
- And your comment in 200 characters or less, AND in Japanese, as to why you've chosen this song. (I just used Google Translate to post my comment in Japanese)

After putting a check mark on the fine print at the bottom of the page and hitting the very bottom button, afterwards. Your vote is submitted.

It works similarly to Step 7, with a few extra boxes need to be filled. They are in order:
- Artist's Name
- Anime Title
- Song Name
- Your Name
- Gender
- Age
- Comment
